Hair Fair Time!

Sings "its the most wonderful time of the year" as I make my way through the booths at the third annual Second Life Hair Fair. This year in my opinion the theme must be hats, hats and more hats. I recall at last years event the cowgirl hat was the big success story and every time I looked around for weeks after it was in every blog, picture or profile. This year the selection of hats is bigger ranging from Argrace's Hunting Cap to Here Comes Trouble's Beenies to Maitreya's warm fall wool hat. Myself having a hat fetish purchased all of the above and more.

The fair this year doubles last year size and inhabits four Rezzable sims and offers 90 designers. Many designers have their demos available on Onrez.com (search for hair fair) if you want a head start on seeing whats available. Of the 90 participating designers, the most notable designer missing from the list is ETD. Designers were encouraged to include new never before seen styles at their booths so as a shopper it is important to take your time and browse. As usual along with the great new products available is the usual lag. I have found early morning to be the best time to go looking but be prepared to detach all scripts and prims if you want to progress through the participants. The fair is sure to be crowded until the end so multiple visits may be necessary to experience it all.

The hair fair as usual is a charitable event with designers asked to choose one style and donate 50% of the proceeds from its sale to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to children who suffer hair loss due to cancer, burns and other conditions. There are also donations kiosks set up through out the Aztec themed fair to help raise money and awareness to this cause.

Bandana Day will happen on September 7th to close out the Hair Fair. Residents grid wide will be asked to replace their virtual hair with bandannas sold throughout the Hair Fair from various designers with all proceeds from their sales going to Locks for Love. The bandannas are a sign of support to all the children who do live with the reality of hair loss conditions. Other events at the fair include quizzes and challenges available on the Hair Fair Blog http://hairfair.wordpress.com/

This spectacular expo runs through to September 7, 2008 and is a must see event and remember to fill up on your Lindens first because there is really some amazing hair styles and designs to be had and of course some hats :)
