In a sit down with my fabulous friend I gathered some info to pass along in regards to her station....
SLS: How did Fuze FM/Productions come to be?
Kiki DeVinna: Fuze FM was established 3yrs to ago. My business partner, Rox and I have both been in the online radio business for quite some time. She is in the UK and I am in the USA. While there is an obvious time difference, between the both of us, FM and Productions runs smoothly. I met Rox while working at another online radio station. She was the co-owner and I was the General Manager. We had such a good working relationship, we decided to open a new station, and that is how Fuze FM began. Fuze FM offers an all request playlist 24/7. Our DJ's are from all over the world. They come to you from the USA, Canada, UK and as far away as Australia. We branched out into Second Life 2 years ago. Our expansion is Fuze Productions. This is my baby. I remain co-owner of FM and run Productions in Second Life. We provide the same excellent quality DJ's and music for any type of occasion. Whether it's a small private party, or an extravagant affair, Fuze never fails to deliver only the best.
SLS: Do you feel there are differences from online radio compared to Second Life?
Kiki DeVinna: There is not much of a difference. For us, it's the love of music and being able to share that. When we are on air for Fuze FM our interaction is limited to requests and dedications from our listeners. Some of our DJ's do venture into virtual chat rooms and even into the online gaming site POGO. It is amazing how many great comments we receive from our listeners. They love that they can hear what they want, when they want it. Our DJ's are always accessible via our website. In Second Life there seems to be a more personal interaction and the sense of being in the "club scene". I'll never forget the first time I had the opportunity to DJ at a club. Little did I know it was a strip club....and one of our DJ's on the FM side was a dancer. I remember sending her an IM saying OMG I CAN SEE YOUR BOOBS! So....SL is much more different that just being an on air personality. I love the interaction on both levels.
SLS: Music is a huge part of Second Life. What makes Fuze Productions and it's DJ's stand out from others?
Kiki DeVinna: Excellent question. Personally I have been a DJ for 7 years now. Our Vice President, Larz Beresford, has 3 years experience. Doxx Divine and Shinya Tandino both have an extensive music background and both have been DJ's for years. This is something I look for. Music has always been a part of my life. Fuze and it's reputation is very important to me. The people that are hired on with us must see and feel the music as an extension of themselves. To receive the best possible results, you must hire the best. In my opinion that is what we have done.
SLS: There are so many different characters in Second Life. Is there any one that stands out in your mind?
Kiki DeVinna: Second Life certainly does have diversity. I will give it that. Like I said before, it's all about the music for us. If a furry wants to jam out to Aqua's Barbie Girl who am I to say no. It's all about having fun! We have been fortunate enough to meet so many wonderful people. We've made lasting friendships and we are thankful for that. It's not all about the mighty Linden. Music, friends and family .. oh and fashion (sorry had to throw that in there) -- isn't that what it's all about?
SLS: Do you have any advice for aspiring DJ's?
Kiki DeVinna: I do. Be true to yourself. If music is your passion, then being a DJ is right up your alley. Always follow your dreams and don't let anyone stop you.
