Picture this, you teleport into what you think is going to be your new favorite hangout. But instead you find yourself dropped in the middle of tacky mall-ville. You make your way through what looks like a newbie yard sale from hell and finally find the door to the club. As you cross the doorway the music changes from a lovely 80's tune to a hard thumping techno beat that instantly gives you a headache. You walk through the doors and your eyes are immediately assaulted by the flashing lights and spinning objects.
Then someone in the haze of blingy-ness says "hi welcome to the club". You think to yourself. Ok, the music isn't great, I'm partially blind and I had to walk a mile to find the door but maybe the people are cool. You say hi back and make your way to the dance floor, which is also lit up like a trailer park Christmas tree, and start to dance (that is IF you can find an Intan or other some such dance ball). You ask how everyone is and receive a handful of one to three word replies. After several minutes of idle chatter the room goes quiet. Oh the awkward silence....but wait it's not silent. You still have the lovely thumping techno music mixed with equally obnoxious gesturbating. Well at least the howls and woots will keep you company. Right?
Just as you're about to leave, someone asks you to dance. Why not, it's not like the conversation was going anywhere. Now it's time to play "20 questions". Where are you from? What do you do? How old are you? Ugh just the thought of it makes me queasy. So you look around you and take in the scenery in between answering insipid questions from your dance partner. Black walls, that's... lame. Swirly blue satin textured floors.. seriously? Large tip posters and homemade signs with rules all over the walls.... typical and uninteresting. The same generic club chairs with stripper poles on them. Where's the creativity? Theme? Imagination? I suppose it could be blamed on the ample supply of 'colored lighting' that must have severely damaged the poor designers vision. Yes that must be it. Then your dance partner snaps you out of your fault-finding expedition only to make a few crude comments about what he'd like to do to you 'upstairs' in the skyboxes as if you have "whore" printed on your forehead. What part of "I'm 37 from Seattle" was erotic? So you fake a crash, relog and go shopping instead. Sound familiar?
That's what the typical club experience is like. At least for me. I've been in SL for almost 4 years and have found few clubs that I want to visit more than once. Until now. Salacious has changed all of that.
Salacious is not your typical club. It's part swingers club, part dance club, part resort. It was built by Shelby Ziskey and her partner Christopher Goff after the club they used to hang out at closed. They wanted a place for their friends to hang out that was sexy, classy and fun. And they nailed that one right on the head!
It's located on a small island on the Poppen sim (which ironically enough means "to shag, bonk or i.e. to f*ck" in German). Once you get to know the Salacious folks you'll know why that's so funny. Salacious is everything you want in a club. Even the name Salacious is fitting; arousing or appealing to sexual desire or imagination.
Salacious reeks of desire and imagination. It's tastefully decorated with dark woods, rattan and wicker, light earth toned fabrics and plenty of tropical foliage. Yes it's still a sex type club but it's classy. Erotic role play, having sexy fun, making friends and goofing off are what Salacious is all about. Salacious is not your typical SL meat market, it is a club for those that enjoy the flirt, the chase, the excitement of meeting new people, having fun with them and making real friends; it's more than just cartoons here.
Their poseballs are discretely hidden so when you first come in it looks as if you've stepped into a spa not a whore house. They have countless places for couples to snuggle chat and play. All of the furniture is interactive. The Intan dance ball has more than just dances, so you can sneak off with that special person to the bushes, the beach, out behind the club house, or even at the bottom of the sea!
They also have our own rock radio station run by DJ Yobee Ziskey (no relation to Shelby). Any time 24/7 you can click on www.star769.com and request a song. He plays at many of our events too!
There are scheduled weekly events hosted Jena Rosewood (Fri/Sat 7pm slt) and Fiona Okelli (Sun/Mon 12pm slt). They range from fun best of contests to sexy lingerie parties to full on dirty events like the monthly Erotic Story Hour (where readers share naughty stories in voice). You might even see an orgy or two. You never know what you're going to see when you stop by. But the one thing you're sure to find is great conversation with genuine people, in a relaxed atmosphere that's sure to bring you back night after night.
But don't take my word for it, come by and find out for yourself. If you've been looking for an adult hang out for real people who like to make friends, dance, flirt and play, then Salacious is where you need to be. And as Shelby says "Don't arrive naked, but don't be surprised if you leave here that way. Have some Salacious fun."
